Time Commitment: My child will be present all four days of the first week of camp at Wayne Community College, June 22 – June 25, 9AM to 4PM. [16-18 year olds]

Time Commitment: My child will be present all four days of the second week of camp at Habitat’s McNair Heights Neighborhood, Jun 29 – July 2, 9AM to 4PM. [16-18 year olds]

Time Commitment: My child will be present both days of camp at Wayne Community College & Habitat’s McNair Heights Neighborhood, June 25-26, 9AM to 4PM. [13-15 year olds]

Photo Release: I hereby grant Habitat for Humanity of Goldsboro-Wayne permission to use my/my child’s photograph, video, or likeness in any and all of its publications, including website entries and social media posts, without payment or any other consideration. I understand and agree that these materials will become the property of HFHGW and will not be returned.

Power Tools and Saws: I understand that I/my child will be using a saw and other power tools, as well as hand tools, during Construction Camp. I further understand that I/my child will be training on live electrical circuits during Construction Camp.

Dress Code & Code of Conduct: I understand that I/my child must wear closed toe-heel shoes (no crocs, slides, sandals, slippers, etc.), shorts or long pants (steer clear of baggy athletic shorts), hair must be secured away from the face, and no jewelry (rings, long chains, large earrings).

I understand that I/my child may not have any electronics during the camp. Students will be asked to turn their cellphones in at registration, and receive them during lunch break, and once they sign out for the day (Habitat will provide contact information to all those selected for this program in case of emergency). Headphones and earbuds will not be worn at all during camp.

I understand that I/my child must behave, respectfully listen to all adults and to each other, and follow instructions and directions from adult leaders and volunteers. If students feel instructions are not clear they are to ask for clarification and wait until they fully understand. Horseplay will not be tolerated. When walking between buildings and touring campus students must stay together.

I understand that I/my child will receive three warnings, and that if I/my child still cannot follow the conduct policy, that I/my child will be asked to leave and will forfeit any stipend eligibility.

Students Age 16 to 19

June 22 - June 25 | 9AM – 4PM | Wayne Community College

June 29 - July 2 | 9AM – 4PM | McNair Heights

We are looking for high school students, ages 16 to 18 to join us this summer for an exciting, hands-on experience in the skilled trades! This camp, in partnership with Wayne Community College, is designed for students who want to learn by doing. It is an immersive camp designed to introduce students to construction, teamwork, and potential career pathways in the building and construction industry.

During Week One, students will learn foundational construction knowledge and trade skills in carpentry, electrical and plumbing. Students during this week also will have the opportunity to learn soft skills to prepare them post-secondary education and/or the workforce, and will be able to learn about all the options offered at Wayne Community College. Students also will have the opportunity on Day 4 to chance to participate in the Be Pro Be Proud virtual reality construction experience, and to share what they've learned and built and celebrate with their families.

During Week Two, students will then put their skills to work in on an actual Habitat job site in our McNair Heights Neighborhood. And those students who are willing and able to participate fully in both weeks will then be eligible to receive a small monetary stipend, in addition to their new tools!

Students Age 13 to 15

June 25 | 9AM – 4PM | Wayne Community College

June 26 | 9AM – 4PM | Habitat's McNair Heights Neighborhood

An extension of our high school construction camp, this two-day construction experience is designed to give middle and early high school students an introductory look into construction, as well as to Wayne Community College.

On Day 1, students will receive an introduction to tools and carpentry, as well as have the opportunity to learn soft skills and see everything that Wayne Community College has to offer. They also will be able to participate in the Be Pro Be Proud virtual reality construction experience.

On Day 2, students will have a chance to experience an actual Habitat job site and get hands-on helping to build a family's new home.

At the end of the camp, our goal is for each student to have a small hand-made item to take home to commemorate their accomplishments and what they learned.
